Smoky, ripe and juicy with aromas of blue and black berries, dried flowers and licorice, forest wood, smoke and cedar. Medium-bodied with silky tannins and lively acidity and a long, supple finish.
Fruit was hand sorted and destemmed into 2 1.5-ton bins. After a 4-day cold soak, the fermenters warmed naturally and were gently punched down once or twice a day at the onset of fermentation. Wine was pressed at dryness and racked to barrels for aging 10 months on lees.
From fruit on the west side of the vineyard, the Casteel Pinot Noir is a blend of the best barrels from the Bethel Heights vineyard, selected to express the epitome of that particular vintage.
